The Enhanced Direct Support Professional provides direct support to individuals who need more advanced behavioral supports! Much like a Direct Support Professional, the Enhanced DSP works in the homes and in the communities of the Employers (clients) that S.T.E.P. provides services to! But because there is a higher need this position looks for experienced, HeartRight staff with a background in behavioral supports.

Responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Learning daily living skills
  • Learning coping methods for behavioral challenges
  • Instruction on cooking, cleaning, and assisted supports
  • Personal care
  • And more!

Shifts vary based on the needs of the Employers we support. We are a 24/7 agency, so schedules can range anywhere from a Tuesday-Saturday afternoon to awake nocturnal shifts. Open availability is preferred for this position.

Requirements: High School Graduate or Certificate of High School Equivalency (GED) is required for this position, as well at least six months experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities who have challenging behavioral needs. Staff must be in good physical health as verified by a health screen and a test for tuberculosis (TB), performed under the supervision of a physician (to be performed after hire).

This position requires our hires to pass a DOJ/FBI criminal background check and drug screen, and all potential hires must have a valid California Driver License and acceptable DMV driving record, and ability to drive own vehicle for work.
